For Our Family, SVFF More Than Just a Music Festival

It was August, 2012 when I first walked through the gates at the Shelter Valley Folk Festival. To say that it was love at first sight would be an understatement. As I took in the spectacular beauty of the festival site (also known as the Henkel Family Lavender Farm), I finally realized what people meant when they spoke so reverently about the “rolling hills of Northumberland”.

Homemade Jam Brings Music to Cobourg Beach

Friday's Homemade Jam was a great success drawing in many people who came to support our three young performers, Ellen Torrie, Mitchell Jackson, and Todd Jaxon. In addition to friends and family, we had many visitors stop by the lion's pavillion to enjoy frree pizza and listen to Ellen, Mitchell and Todd performing some of their original music. The Shelter Valley Folk Festival would like to thank everyone who showed up to the event and our amazing performers for sharing their music with us.

Local Songwriters Showcase Finalists Announced!

What a great night! Thank you to everyone who helped to put on the songwriters showcase- The jury, audience judges, volunteers who slugged tents and chairs in the heat, the DBIA for letting us take over the down town, our fantastic Emcee, and each of the musicians who put their songs and hearts out there for everyone to hear.

Community Picnic

Thanks to everyone who showed up to the Shelter Valley Folk Festival Community Picnic on July 17. The picnic was a wonderful gathering of people, food and music.

Summer Student Opportunities

Shelter Valley Folk Festival is pleased to announce that we have two summer student positions available:

Production Assistant

Shelter Valley Folk Festival is seeking a part time post-secondary school student returning to school this fall. Candidates must be Canadian, and between 15-30 years of age. The position would begin in June and end in late August. Shelter Valley Folk Festival is an equal opportunity employer.

Songwriter's Showcase Success

Perfect weather Thursday night graced the crowd gathered to participate in the Shelter Valley Folk Festival’s 11th annual Local Songwriters Showcase. Ten contestants gathered to share their songwriting and passion for music with the attentive crowd and judges.

SVFF Presents: Homemade Jam

The Shelter Valley Folk Festival presents Homemade Jam -- a free music event featuring three talented, young, and local singer-sonwriters. Come out to the Lioness Pavilion in Victoria Park, Cobourg to support these budding musicians. Free snacks will be provided! Featured musicans to be announced.
